Basse-Côte-Nord
Basse-Côte-Nord is a unique destination. Its lack of highways
and the extraordinary beauty of its wild and barren landscapes lend
a unique charm to its villages and add unforgettable appeal to any
stay. It was here among the strings of islands and islets that dot
the shoreline—itself a succession of rivers and bays—that
the hit film Seducing Doctor Lewis was shot. Visitors are charmed by the warm hospitality of the some 6,000 residents in the fifteen or so coastal villages.
The whole area is accessible by boat, with the Relais Nordik cargo and passenger ship calling in
some ten villages. A number of villages are accessible by air via
Sept-Îles, Havre-Saint-Pierre, and Natashquan. A ferry service
links Blanc- Sablon with St. Barbe, Newfoundland
